The team was doing well. Their response time was better than it’s ever been and so Maya wanted to celebrate it. They would usually celebrate happy moments like this by going to the bar. However, bars are closed because of Covid-19. The next best solution was having drinks at Maya’s place and so she invited everyone to come over. She was going to be making drinks.
Vic was going to get food from her parents’ restaurant and so Sullivan should have been happy to go. He instead felt lost. He’s been in a mood for a while now and he doesn’t know if he should go to Maya’s place because he doesn’t know if being around Andy is a good idea right now. Andy supports his decision to get clean. She even supported Sullivan outing himself as an addict to the Fire Chief and so it’s the other thing.
It’s the part where everytime they’re around each other, Sullivan wants to kiss his wife. He and Andy weren’t married long when Sullivan came out as an addict and entered the program. He was told he needed to separate from his wife for ninety days. Just until he got a handle on the program. Sullivan didn’t mind this at first and its only harder now because the two work together.
They see each all the time. They also miss each other like crazy and so Sullivan talked about it with his sponsor. His sponsor is Richard. Richard is a doctor. He’s an alcoholic and he’s married. He told Sullivan if Andy wasn’t being a problem about him getting clean then there’s no reason why they should continue with the separation. Richard told Sullivan to go get his wife.
Sullivan was happy to get the go-ahead from his sponsor. He was going to go talk with Andy and he actually ran into her before the party at Maya’s. He ran into her at the station. Andy had been raiding the cupboards for food to take back to Maya’s because Maya didn’t have any snacks and so the two were barely alone in a room together before they threw out their old rule book.
They jumped each other’s bones. They were off having sex that they were missing out on all the drama over at Maya’s and so it was the other members of their team that were dealing with it. Miller, Montgomery, and Vic were at Maya’s place where they heard a woman shouting for help. They went outside to go see what was wrong and that’s when the woman told them that her daughter had been kidnapped.
The woman explained that her daughter had a sleepover with one of her friends. She went on to go check on the girls in the morning and she saw their beds were emptied. She called them on their cell phones. It went straight to voicemail and so she tracked the phone. The phone was showing up by the water. The woman didn’t know what this meant and so she tried another method.
She decided to use the tracker on her daughter’s Fitbit. The tracker led her to a house where she didn’t know anyone inside and that’s why the woman came to believe her daughter was being held hostage. Three other black girls from their neighborhood had disappeared. The woman was afraid her child could be harmed or killed and so she wanted help in breaking down the door.
Only the team couldn’t help her. This wasn’t their field and they told the woman so. They asked her if she called the police. She did. She was told the police were coming and they never showed up at her house. She then went down to the station where the police told her they needed a warrant for the house. They weren’t going to just break down the door because a Fitbit told them so.
The police were tied up and the situation wasn’t too frightening. It reminded Miller that he was raising his daughter Pru on his own. Pru is a baby right now and she’s going to be a little black girl one day. Miller was afraid of what might happen to her if it was just him. His family has been reaching out to him and Vic suggested that he let them in.
Miller had to forgive them some time. Like, yeah, they took away his trust fund when he had a baby outside marriage and now they’re delivering gifts for said baby because they want to be a part of her life. His life as well. His parents were trying and so Vic thought he should forgive them. The two of them also thought they should do something to help Joyce.
Joyce wasn’t going to leave the house alone until he had been searched and her daughter was either found or still missing. She even called the mother of the second girl. They were now two of them demanding to be let into the house and so Miller knocked. He tried to get the man to let them in and that wasn’t happening. They weren’t in uniform nor did they have their truck. The man also didn’t know them. He wasn’t going to let them inside.
The two women weren’t going to leave this man alone. They felt for sure that he had kidnapped their daughters and might have also been responsible for the other missing girls. The team told the ladies to wait for police. The police later showed up and one of them was a nice person. The other was a jerk. The jerk pulled rank. He told everyone to clear the scene because they were causing a disturbance and so the firefighters pushed back.
They claimed to have smelled gas. They now said that the scene was theirs because of the gas leak and they were demanding entry into the home when the homeowner decided to start a fire. The fire was noticeable from the outside. The team declared the fire as their territory and they went in.
The guy who owns the place came out. He didn’t want to die in the fire and yet he left his victims to die there. Luckily for them, 19 was there. Miller didn’t wait for backup or gear. He went in and he was joined by Sullivan. Both men rescued the kidnapped girls. They got them out of the house and into the fresh air. The girls had passed out from the smoke.
The team’s chief concern was getting them oxygen and both girls seemed to respond well once they got to breathe the oxygen. The girls woke up. They began responding questions and they said what happened. They had been posting photos of each other on Instagram when a girl DM’d them. This girl claimed to be an Influencer. She told the girls that they should meet up and that she could help them make money from their photos.
This “girl” never showed up. The guy with a van did and he dragged into the back of it before they could do anything or call for help. Only that guy is now claiming those girls broke into his home and set a fire. The jerk cop was even willing to listen to him. He arrested Joyce when she tried to argue and so then Miller got involved and Andy was pushed and so then Sullivan got involved.
Several of them were arrested. Miller was arrested. Joyce was arrested. Sullivan was also arrested and he had a hard time as it is because the fire department might not forgive him a second time.
THE END!
