Laura Harring is a Mexican and American actress and model. She was crowned Miss Texas USA 1985, and then Miss USA. Her roles include the films The Forbidden Dance, Mulholland Drive, John Q., Willard (2003), The Punisher (2004), The King (2005), Nancy Drew (2007), Love in the Time of Cholera, Ghost Son, The Caller (2008), Drool, Sex Ed (2014), and Inside (2016), and the series General Hospital, Sunset Beach, and The Shield. She is said to have been the first Latina Miss USA.
She was born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, and spent much of her childhood there, before moving to San Antonio, Texas, U.S. Her father, Raymond Herring, was a developer and organic farmer, of Austrian and German descent. Her mother, María Elena Martínez-Cairo, is a spiritual teacher, of Mexican descent.
She is known as Laura Elena, Countess von Bismarck-Schönhausen, having been granted the title by virtue of her former marriage to German politician Carl-Eduard von Bismarck, the great-great-grandson of German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck.
Laura’s maternal grandfather was named Isauro Cairo. Isauro was an equestrian and fencing champion.
